The latest heatwave in France continued on the 10th local time, with 24 departments—including all those in the Greater Paris area—reissuing a red alert for high temperatures. According to French authorities, since June 19, a total of 131 people have died from drowning across France.

According to a report from China News Service, the director of the French meteorological office, Schwartz, stated that temperatures in many parts of France will continue to rise this weekend. She expects this round of the heatwave to continue expanding eastward in France and to last at least until the 14th.

The French meteorological department stated that 22 million people will be affected by the high-temperature red alert.

Over the past three days, temperatures in Paris may remain between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. Due to the ongoing heat, the Louvre has once again closed early starting from the 10th. Reporters observed visitors arriving with tickets for after 4 p.m. on the 10th; staff explained that entry could not be arranged, but full refunds would be provided. Because of the shortened opening hours and the high demand among visitors, staff told reporters that Louvre tickets have been sold out until the 15th.

On the 10th, French Sports Minister Ferrari stated that since June 19, a total of 131 people have lost their lives to drowning in France. She noted that about 55% of drowning deaths occurred in unsupervised and unauthorized swimming locations, while 20% took place in private swimming areas—including swimming pools; a large number of drowning incidents involved minors under the age of 18.
