Baki Visits Shanghai Electric Headquarters to Discuss Various Bilateral Strategic Cooperation

(Shanghai 11th) Led by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utilities (Sarawak Energy and Sarawak Petroleum) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, the Sarawak government delegation visited the Shanghai Electric headquarters located in Minhang District, China, yesterday.
 
 The visit coincides with the 18th 2025 International Solar Photovoltaic and Smart Energy Conference (SNEC PV) held in Shanghai, China, yesterday.
 
 The delegation was welcomed by Wu Lei, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, and company leaders.

The Sarawak government delegation also included Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak, Datuk Jacky Jeffrey, and Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy, Datuk Sharbini Suhaili.
 
Previously, Datuk Ibrahim and the delegation listened to a briefing on Shanghai Electric's business operations.
 
Following the briefing, an approximately one-hour bilateral meeting was held to discuss various bilateral strategic cooperation.
 
Yesterday morning, the Sarawak government, through the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Electric and China Three Gorges International Corporation (CTGI) to conduct various research cooperation and explore the potential for developing a floating solar capacity of up to 1000 megawatts (MW) in the Bakun Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEP) catchment area.
