Strengthening Ties through Strategic Cooperation in Various Fields between Sarawak and Shanghai

(Shanghai, 11th) The bilateral relationship between Sarawak and Shanghai, China will be continuously strengthened through strategic cooperation in various fields.
 
 Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stated that the economic strengths of Shanghai align with Sarawak's vision to become the strongest economic region in Malaysia.
 
 "To maintain this advantage, we need many key elements, including sustainable energy, talent, technology, research, and development (R & D), etc. Shanghai is China's leading R&D center."
 
 He said this in a media interview yesterday after meeting with Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng at the Jing'an Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai.

He mentioned that during the meeting, Gong Zheng shared about Shanghai's position as China's leading logistics hub in the fields of aviation, ports, innovation, and R&D, and as the country's largest economic center.
 
"We also took this opportunity to share Sarawak's vision as a green energy hub, including our vision in the field of R&D, particularly our intention to cooperate with institutions like Fudan University and medical schools."
 
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stated that Gong Zheng strongly supports the collaboration between Shanghai Electric and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) on green and renewable energy development, as this will further enhance opportunities in this field for Sarawak.
 
Attendees included Sarawak Minister of Transport Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Utilities (Sarawak Energy Berhad and Petroleum Company) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Utilities and Communications Datuk Jefferi, Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy Berhad Datuk Sharbini Suhaini, and Acting Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai, Nulianthira, among other distinguished guests.
