(Miri, 24th) As the Lunar New Year approaches, many who are working or studying away from home will be returning to reunite with their families. The Youth sections of the Piasau branch of Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) deputy secretary Chia Kah Furng reminds those driving back home to adhere to traffic rules, ensure safe driving, and reach their hometowns safely.
Chia Kah Furng stated that before embarking on the journey home, individuals must check the condition of their vehicles, including brakes, tire pressure, and engine operation, to ensure there are no safety hazards before hitting the road. He particularly emphasized that during long-distance driving, if one feels fatigued, they should stop and rest at a safe location, or have the co-driver take over. It's important not to force oneself to drive to prevent traffic accidents.
In the statement, he reminded drivers not to engage in dangerous overtaking or speeding, as arriving safely at the destination is the most important goal. He also reiterated that drunk driving is extremely dangerous, as it endangers not only the driver’s own safety but also poses a threat to the lives of others.
He said, if you drink, you shouldn't drive, and everyone should keep this in mind.
Chia Kah Furng called on all those returning home to plan their trips in advance, avoid traveling during peak periods, and ensure a smooth journey. He also wished everyone driving back home a safe journey and a warm and happy Lunar New Year with their families.
