An alarming incident recently occurred at an amusement park in Kansas, USA: a young girl’s safety belt suddenly came loose while she was riding a roller coaster. Fortunately, a couple seated in front of her reacted in time and grabbed her tightly, preventing a possible tragedy.
According to ABC 30, the incident happened on the 11th of last month at "Worlds of Fun," a local amusement park in Kansas City.
The couple involved said that at the time, they were riding the park’s tallest roller coaster, “Mamba.” Just as the coaster was about to speed over the first big hill, a young girl seated behind them suddenly screamed, terrifyingly shouting, “My seatbelt came loose!”
The couple turned around and found that the girl’s seatbelt had indeed become completely unfastened, leaving a large gap between her and the safety bar. The situation was urgent, so the two immediately reached out and firmly grabbed the girl.
The husband, Chris Evans, recalled that he comforted the girl, telling her: “Listen, you’re going to make it to the end—you can do this. We won’t let you go.”
He mentioned that the roller coaster reaches speeds of up to 72 miles per hour (about 120 kilometers per hour), “It’s really scary to hold on to someone else at that kind of speed.”
In the photos released, Chris and his wife can be seen half-turned, each grabbing the girl behind them tightly with their hands, all three faces filled with fear. In the end, the roller coaster safely reached its destination, no one was injured, and everyone returned to the ground unharmed.
After the incident, local fire safety officials visited the amusement park for inspection. The park said the “Mamba” roller coaster has undergone a comprehensive safety check, and park management has made improvements as required by the fire department to ensure that the ride now meets or even exceeds all applicable safety standards. It will be reopened to the public after these upgrades.
