(Congo (DRC), 9th) – Official data from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) shows that the cumulative death toll from this Ebola outbreak has reached 600 cases.

According to Reuters and Xinhua, the Congolese government released a report on Wednesday (July 8), stating that as of Tuesday (7th), there have been a total of 1,759 confirmed cases nationwide, including 600 deaths.

The report also noted that there were 51 new confirmed cases and 20 deaths within the past 24 hours. So far, the epidemic has mainly affected the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu. There are 285 cumulative cured cases, with 750 patients currently in isolation or receiving hospital treatment.

The report stated that hospital bed capacity at medical institutions in the three affected provinces has nearly reached its limit. In particular, the treatment centers in North Kivu are under significant pressure, with the bed occupancy rate exceeding 100%.

The local Ministry of Health recently noted that a clinical trial has started at the Ebola treatment center in Ituri, the "epicenter" of the outbreak. The World Health Organization previously stated that this clinical trial will assess potential treatments, such as the monoclonal antibody MBP134 and the antiviral drug Remdesivir, both individually and in combination.
