The Chinese variety show Riding the Wind 2026 (also known as Sisters Who Make Waves 7) continues to generate buzz. Following previous reports of Tseng Peici experiencing throat issues, a recent incident during the fifth public performance saw the start of a timed vote for duet collaborations. Li Xiaoran, seemingly unable to secure her desired song, posted three consecutive messages on social media, even exclaiming, “I’m not worthy.” Although the messages were quickly deleted, the incident has sparked heated discussion.
During the timed vote, Li Xiaoran’s and Zhang Yue’s teams fiercely competed for the classic Na Ying song “Meng Yi Chang.” Li Xiaoran really gave it her all. At first, Li Xiaoran’s team led by a large margin, but Zhang Yue’s team caught up, and in a dramatic turn of events, Zhang Yue’s team ultimately won with 319,000 votes.
Li Xiaoran’s team ended up with 216,000 votes—a significant gap. Afterwards, Li Xiaoran posted several messages on Weibo, saying things like “If I can’t win, let it be just a dream,” “Stop voting, it doesn’t matter,” and “No matter what I sing, it won’t sound good, I’m not worthy,” clearly showing signs of giving up. The posts have since been deleted, but netizens believe Li Xiaoran’s reaction was too emotional and might make her opponent, Zhang Yue, feel awkward.
In response, Zhang Yue’s official data team, noticing the emotional posts by Li Xiaoran’s team during the voting battle for “Meng Yi Chang,” announced they would stop organizing voting on unified accounts and would voluntarily withdraw from the competition. This move has been widely praised as a “graceful concession” and has also triggered a wave of criticism against the show’s voting system and its fairness.
