(Miri, 22nd) The Deputy Minister of the Sarawak Tourism Department, Datuk Ting Chew Yew, inspected the bicycle Pump Track project which has already begun construction today.
During an interview with the media at the meeting, Datuk Ting Chew Yew stated that the Pump Track, which is the first in Malaysia to meet international competition standards and is funded with RM600,000 through the Rural Transformation Project, has already started construction. Once completed, it is expected to become the 1058th international competition venue worldwide.
"Currently, there are already 1057 standard tracks globally, used for Red Bull competitions. Once completed, Miri will become a pilgrimage site for skilled riders from neighboring countries and will further develop Miri's tourism industry."
He said that this 251-meter-long track could also become a training center for cycling athletes, fostering the development of more outstanding athletes.
It is understood that a professional four-person construction team from abroad began working at the beginning of this month. Due to the wave-like track design and structure of the Pump Track, it must be executed by professionals with experience in this field.
This Pump Track is built in Miri's Artificial Lake Park and was approved for construction under Datuk Ting Chew Yew's 2022 Rural Transformation Projects (RTP).
