(Miri, 22nd) Pei Min Middle School Junior High 3 (1) student Liu Qi Xian is passionate about language arts. During school, he actively participates in various activities such as crosstalk, podcasts, emceeing, and hosting, demonstrating outstanding language expression and stage performance abilities.
Last year, Liu Qi Xian participated in the "15th International Campus Art Festival National Broadcast Event" of the Colorful Planet series, supervised by CCTV (China Central Television), and won the Gold Award in the Youth Group A Crosstalk Combination category.
He is also the host of the Dong Zong "High School Students" Podcast program "Easy Learning of Malay," becoming the only student host of this program from Sarawak's Chinese independent high schools. Additionally, in April this year, he won First Prize and the Best Supporting Performer Award in the "6th National High School Students Crosstalk Competition," organized by the University of Malaya Chinese Language Society.
"Language is not just a tool for communication but also an art form. For example, in crosstalk performances, I hope to cleverly integrate humor and wit to bring joy to the audience. In podcast programs, I aim to convey information with a vivid style to capture the listeners' attention. As an emcee and host, I strive for natural and smooth expression, leading the event's atmosphere and ensuring everything runs orderly."
Liu Qi Xian, who graduated from Pu Yi Chinese School, mentioned that there are relatively few crosstalk activities in East Malaysia, and many competitions usually take place in West Malaysia. He feels very fortunate that through participation in competitions, he has made many like-minded friends and crosstalk mentors, including Teacher Yao Zhi Xiang and Teacher Li Jie Er.
Liu Qi Xian is also the vice-chairman of the Pei Min Middle School Yi Sheng Society. In the past two years, the club has held two "Crosstalk Night" events to provide a platform for showcasing crosstalk activities in East Malaysia.
He stated his ambition is to pursue a degree in broadcasting in the future, hoping to further improve his language expression and hosting abilities, and eventually become an outstanding host.
Current principal of Pei Chong, Yang Youhe, said that students today have a very wide range of interests, and education should stay up-to-date by embracing a multicultural environment and encouraging students to discover their potential in diverse interests. The school will continue to support students like Liu Qi Xian, providing them opportunities to thrive in their respective fields, contributing to both personal growth and the richness of social culture.
Yang Youhe mentioned that secondary education is the most crucial stage for shaping a person's character and setting future aspirations. During this period, students not only need to acquire knowledge but more importantly, cultivate independent thinking and problem-solving abilities.
He said Pei Min Middle School will continue to provide various platforms to inspire students' creativity and leadership, helping them to go further on their future paths. As Liu Qi Xian has demonstrated his potential through crosstalk activities and his dream of studying broadcasting, the school hopes more students can find value in pursuing their passions and fully realize their talents.
