GX Covers "Palm" in Final Show of 10-Stop Music Tour

 

The limited-time duo GX, formed by Wayne "Gugu" Lim and Hsiao Bing Chih, concluded their Big Play Tour on May 3rd in Kuala Lumpur with their 10th and final performance. This marked their first-ever concert in Malaysia since their debut and wrapped up the 10-stop journey with a perfect "10 out of 10" finale! 

The concert was packed with energy as Gugu lit up the stage with his vibrant presence, sharing heartfelt stories about his career journey. He said, “We’ve been looking forward to this for so long—this is the first concert of our lives in Malaysia! Thank you for supporting us for over 10 years.” Gugu was deeply moved seeing fans who had supported them since their school days, now grown up and starting families. He even humorously mimicked a baby’s voice to address a pregnant fan: “Hello, I’m Uncle Gugu. Remember to attend a GX concert after you’re born!” 

Gugu, known for his unwavering love for fans, joked that he would gladly record videos for fans proposing to their partners. He then performed When I Become Us and walked into the audience to congratulate a couple who got engaged during the concert, creating unforgettable memories.

Meanwhile, Hsiao Bing Chih, typically reserved, was teased by Gugu: “In previous shows, he barely sweated. Let’s see if Malaysia’s enthusiasm can get him drenched!” Laughing, Hsiao Bing Chih promised to give his all and soon had to remove his jacket mid-performance. Fans humorously demanded more sweat, prompting him to exclaim, “I’m trying my best!” 

Both artists, formerly part of the band Magic Power (MP), reminisced about their MP days by performing classics like Playing Out of the Box, Forgot How to Love You, Free Yourself, and I Still Love You, sparking a massive singalong. Gugu emotionally said, “You know every song—it’s like singing to your youth.” He added, “Though this isn’t the MP you remember, it’s the most complete version of GX.”

To surprise Malaysian fans, GX performed Michael Wong and Victor Wong’s classic duet Palm and recreated the album cover, a heartfelt nod to local audiences. Fans responded enthusiastically with banners, thanking them for fulfilling their dream of performing in Malaysia. The duo humorously reminded fans to sit down, saying, “Your legs must be sore by now. Don’t pretend to be young anymore!” 

Towards the end, Hsiao Bing Chih promoted his upcoming Alive concert on August 23rd at the Kaohsiung Arena, inviting Malaysian fans to attend. Gugu revealed he would be there to support him, saying, “Feel free to catch me singing my heart out in the audience!”
