(Kuala Lumpur, 25th) Education Minister Fadhlina reminded civil servants that they must carry out their duties properly, and should not wait until matters attract heated discussion online before taking action.
She posted on Facebook stating that the issue of crowded schools has always been a matter of public concern as it impacts students' learning outcomes.
"School overcrowding and inadequate infrastructure will affect learning."
For this reason, she said that she has already convened a meeting with the Selangor National Registration Department Director and the Ministry of Education team to ensure the issue of overcrowding in Selangor schools is addressed seriously and immediately.
Fadhlina pointed out that the Ministry of Education has identified a total of 18 (+1) overcrowded schools in Selangor, and after understanding the short-term intervention measures for these schools, immediate approval has been given for additional classrooms to be built at these schools.
"I have also instructed the hiring of more teachers to resolve the teacher shortage issue at these schools."
She stated that the authorities will immediately carry out additional classroom construction in phases, and will also pay attention to newly built schools under construction.
Fadhlina emphasized that the '2026-2035 Education Blueprint' prioritizes the creation of a conducive learning environment and comprehensive infrastructure in order to improve the quality of education.
Therefore, she reminded civil servants not to wait until issues become viral or spark heated discussion online before taking action.
"We must admit that effort alone is not enough; what people want to see is tangible results. I strongly instruct the department not to wait until issues escalate before acting."
She added that she herself will later meet with the Kedah National Registration Department Director to address the issue of overcrowding in Kedah schools.
