The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has confirmed that a Chinese mountaineer went missing after an avalanche near Broad Peak on July 30.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan stated on Saturday (August 1) that after the incident, the embassy activated its consular protection emergency mechanism, maintained close contact with relevant Pakistani authorities, urged them to make every effort to search for and rescue the missing Chinese citizen, and requested timely updates on the search and rescue progress.
Comprehensive reports from AFP and BBC previously indicated that on Thursday noon (July 30), an avalanche occurred at Broad Peak in the Karakoram range in northern Pakistan, and authorities are coordinating search and rescue operations.
The report stated that the missing team included five Nepalese climbers led by renowned mountaineer Purja, as well as a Pakistani climber, an Omani climber, an American climber, a Chinese climber with the surname Wang, and another foreign climber. Since the avalanche, the entire team has been out of contact.
