White House Press Secretary Levitt stated on the 12th that U.S. President Trump and Russian President Putin will hold a meeting on the 15th in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. During the meeting, Trump will "listen" in order to gain a deeper understanding of how the Russia-Ukraine conflict can be ended.

She pointed out at a press conference that only one of the parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict will be present at this meeting. During the meeting, Trump will have a one-on-one talk with Putin.

She also stated that Trump "may have plans to visit Russia in the future."

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on the 12th that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov had a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio earlier that day, discussing preparations related to the Alaska meeting between the leaders of Russia and the U.S. Both sides confirmed their commitment to successfully holding this meeting.

The meeting may be held at a military base in Alaska

On the 12th, CNN quoted two White House officials as saying that the meeting between Trump and Putin may take place at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, located in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska.

The report pointed out that although the U.S. side "hopes to avoid scenes of receiving Russian leaders and their entourages inside a U.S. military base" being exposed, currently only the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, located in the northern suburbs of the city, meets the requirements for the meeting.

The report said that since it is currently peak tourism season in Alaska, choices of venues for the meeting are limited.
