Selangor Initiates Temporary Evacuation Center, Prime Minister Hopes for Proper Aid for Victims

(Shah Alam, 1st) Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin stated that the Selangor government has activated the temporary evacuation center at the Putra Heights Mosque to accommodate victims affected by the gas pipeline explosion incident.
He posted on the X platform that the fire department is working hard to control the fire and has instructed residents in the surrounding areas to evacuate.
"The district and city disaster management units have initiated the temporary evacuation center at the Putra Heights Mosque to temporarily accommodate affected residents until the situation returns to normal and is under control."
In addition, Selangor State Executive Councillor in charge of disaster management, Nazwan, stated in a press release that several houses in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru were destroyed by fire caused by the gas pipeline, and the exact number of damaged houses is yet to be confirmed.
"Some victims are still trapped inside their homes, and rescue operations are underway.
"The rescued victims are being sent to the temporary evacuation center, where several victims with burns are awaiting ambulances for treatment. Meanwhile, the mosque is also actively assisting the victims."
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar urged the Selangor government and relevant agencies to provide appropriate aid to the victims.
He expressed on his Facebook page the hope that all personnel involved in this operation can complete their tasks successfully.
Earlier, Selangor Fire Department Operations Group Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis stated that the fire was triggered by a gas pipeline leak, with the burning pipeline extending 500 meters, and the incident location is adjacent to a public housing area.
He mentioned that 41 firefighters from Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Cyberjaya, Gombak, South Klang, North Klang, and Damansara have been dispatched to the scene to carry out firefighting and rescue operations.
The fire department received the emergency call at 8:23 a.m. today and is currently conducting firefighting operations.
In addition, the police have blocked roads leading to the accident site.
