The United Nations Security Council held an emergency closed-door meeting on the afternoon of the 25th (EST) regarding the Thai-Cambodian border conflict, with both sides proposing to resolve the dispute through peaceful means.

According to information released by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kittiphong, said at the meeting that Thailand is firmly committed to resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with the UN Charter. Over the past two months, it has actively engaged with Cambodia via bilateral mechanisms, but Cambodia has avoided meaningful dialogue and sought to internationalize the issue to achieve its political objectives. Thailand urges Cambodia to immediately stop all hostile and aggressive actions and to resume sincere dialogue.

After the meeting, Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Chea Chhean, stated that Cambodia calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and for the border dispute with Thailand to be resolved peacefully.

At the meeting, Chea Chhean strongly condemned the Thai military for carrying out premeditated armed aggression against Cambodia and called on the international community to promptly take decisive action to prevent the continued deterioration of the situation. He warned that if the international community remains silent on Thailand's acts of aggression, peace and stability in Southeast Asia will face serious threats.

Thailand and Cambodia clashed in the border area on the 24th, with both sides accusing the other of violating international law. On the 24th, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent a letter to the United Nations, calling on the Security Council to convene an emergency meeting.
