Pham Minh Chinh Visits Brazil to Attend BRICS Summit and Deepen Vietnam-Brazil Strategic Partnership

(Hanoi, 4th) At the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and a high-level delegation, departed for Brazil this afternoon to attend the 2025 BRICS Leaders' Expanded Meeting scheduled for July 7–8, and to carry out a series of bilateral visits.

The accompanying delegation includes Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tuan Anh, Standing Deputy General Inspector of the Government Inspectorate Tran Duc Thang, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Hong Duc, Deputy Director of the Government Office Pham Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hanh, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi.

This visit marks the first time Vietnam is participating in the BRICS Leaders' Expanded Meeting as a “partner country,” highlighting Vietnam’s active role and responsible stance within this multilateral cooperation mechanism. It also demonstrates Vietnam’s determination to strengthen cooperation with BRICS member countries.

This is also the third consecutive year that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has visited Brazil as the head of the Vietnamese government. During the visit, in addition to attending the BRICS Summit, he will also participate in multiple bilateral exchanges and cooperation activities to further promote comprehensive political, economic, and cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil.

It is reported that Brazil is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America, with great potential for cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, energy, education, science and technology, and many other fields.
