(Hanoi, July 4) On July 3rd, Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan led a delegation to Berlin, Germany, to attend the 2025 Global Women's Summit themed "Women: Redefining Value in the Digital Age." At the opening ceremony, she delivered a speech emphasizing Vietnam's consistent commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly praised the active contributions of the Summit over 35 years in promoting global dialogue and cooperation on gender equality. She pointed out that this year's theme is of great practical significance, especially against the current backdrop of global uncertainty. While digital transformation brings many opportunities for development, it may also exacerbate impacts on vulnerable groups.

At the conference, she highlighted Vietnam's achievements in advancing gender equality, noting that between 2022 and 2024, Vietnam's gender equality index ranked 72nd among 146 countries worldwide, an improvement of 11 spots over 2022, indicating significant policy effectiveness.

Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that Vietnam's digital strategy focuses on "digital literacy for all" and "AI learning for all." The Women's Union plays an active role at the grassroots level in promoting related programs, striving to build an inclusive digital society.

She called on the international community to incorporate gender equality into the core agenda of science and technology policy and paid tribute to outstanding women scientists worldwide. She stated that Vietnam is willing to share its experiences and remains committed to continuing as a trusted partner, working hand in hand with the international community to build a developmental society where women and children can participate fully and be protected.

During the summit, Vo Thi Anh Xuan held bilateral talks with German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil. She suggested that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations, the two countries should strengthen mutual visits at all levels, especially high-level exchanges, and comprehensively promote cooperation in multiple fields including party, government, parliament, and people-to-people exchanges.

On the same day, Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and extended greetings to the Vietnamese community residing in Germany, sharing updates on Vietnam's socio-economic development and affirming their contribution to enhancing Vietnam-Germany relations and preserving cultural heritage.

In addition, she also attended the unveiling ceremony of the "Vietnam-Germany Friendship Bear" sculpture at the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, symbolizing the deepening friendship between the two countries.
