On the 19th, Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin emphasized that the current government will not abuse its power to retaliate against any political opponents.

He made this statement at the government building while responding to media questions regarding the Ministry of Justice's proposed review and adjustment of relevant regulations.

The opposition has questioned whether the Ministry of Justice's actions are intended to prevent former Prime Minister Thaksin from assisting the Pheu Thai Party in campaigning after his release.

Anutin said that the measures concerned are part of regular administrative procedures and should not be interpreted as having a "political motive to target former Prime Minister Thaksin or prevent him from assisting with campaigning."

He pointed out that the Ministry of Justice’s review of relevant regulations is simply part of normal administrative work, and the public should not overly attribute political motives to it.

He reiterated that all government actions are carried out in accordance with the law and regulations, and that the administration does not follow the previous practice of "oppressing political opponents."

Regarding the progress of former Prime Minister Thaksin's pardon application, Anutin confirmed that he has completed the signing of the relevant documents according to procedures.

He stated that the application process began during former Justice Minister Thawee's term, and that the current government is merely continuing the process according to established procedures, "Once the documents have been submitted according to procedure, we handle them as required by regulations."
