A prisoner liberation incident occurred in Cambodia on the 18th. A Vietnamese woman attempted to rescue a prisoner who was about to stand trial; the woman was subsequently arrested and has attracted attention for her delicate appearance.
That morning, an armed prisoner rescue attempt took place at the court in Skun Province, eastern Cambodia, near the Vietnam border. A gang of armed assailants stormed the court, attempting to break out a prisoner who was about to be tried.
Earlier that day, several prisoners involved in running illegal online gambling and scams were being escorted by police to the court in Skun Province, eastern Cambodia, near the Vietnam border, for their hearing.
A woman wearing a baseball cap had slipped into the court ahead of time, and in the chaos, secretly handed a handgun to one of the prisoners. The prisoner broke free from his handcuffs and opened fire at the escorting police. Six prisoners, along with the rescuers, boarded a black SUV waiting outside the court and fled the scene. About 30 minutes later, police arrested six Vietnamese prisoners and one Vietnamese woman who assisted in the escape, all near the court. The incident unfolded like a crime movie, and the entire process was caught on CCTV footage.

Besides the shock caused by the prison break both locally and online, the rescuing woman's delicate looks sparked heated discussion, with some netizens dubbing her “the last lady boss of the underworld.” However, on the night of the incident, as Cambodian police were handling those involved, a reporter made inappropriate remarks to the arrested Vietnamese woman and touched her cheek. That same evening, Cambodia’s Ministry of Information revoked the reporter’s credentials and imposed a lifetime ban on practicing journalism.
The Ministry stated in its announcement that the reporter’s actions not only violated the most basic professional ethics of journalism but also seriously contravened regulations banning sexual harassment and inappropriate language.
