KUCHING: Three luxury multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) were among 27 vehicles seized during an integrated operation by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak at two locations here last night.

The operation, Ops Bersepadu Agensi, was carried out simultaneously at Jalan Samarahan-Kuching and Jalan Kuching-Samarahan in tandem with Ops Kenderaan Mewah to ensure luxury vehicles comply fully with road transport laws, including having valid road tax and insurance coverage.

JPJ Sarawak said the three luxury vehicles were seized for serious offences, namely expired road tax and lack of valid insurance.

“Meanwhile 23 motorcycles and one commercial lorry were also seized during the operation,” it said in a Facebook post.

It added that department had issued 373 summonses for various traffic offences, while the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) issued an additional 145 summonses.

“The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) also conducted 22 urine screenings and found eight individuals tested positive for drugs — seven for methamphetamine and one for cannabis,” it said.

It said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) reported no cases of bribery or misconduct during the operation, reflecting the smooth and integrity-driven cooperation among agencies.

JPJ Sarawak thanked the agencies involved, which demonstrated unwavering commitment to the success of the operation.

“This strategic collaboration was not merely a routine enforcement exercise, but a manifestation of the government’s and enforcement agencies’ determination to uphold road safety, officer integrity, and the well-being of the public,” it said.

Also present during the operation were JPJ Sarawak deputy director Nor Azlan Ibrahim and JPJ Sarawak Operations Section head Saifullah Ali.
