(Kuala Belait, 17th) The Brunei Chong Cheng Hakka Association held a grand celebration dinner last night at the gymnasium of Kuala Belait Chung Hwa Middle School to commemorate its 15th anniversary and to raise funds. The event attracted enthusiastic attendance from guests and members' families from various places, including the association's Permanent Honorary Advisors, Honorary Advisors, representatives of Chinese associations in Belait District, as well as representatives from affiliated associations in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
During the evening, in addition to a rich array of entertainment programs, the organizers specially presented plaques of appreciation to sponsoring guests to recognize their support for the association's development. In addition, the Brunei Hakka Spirit Leadership Honorary Award was also presented during the event. Founding Permanent Honorary President Chua Chai Yun received this distinction, with the global Hakka Chong Cheng Federation Deputy Chief Executive Dato Teng Fuen presiding over the award presentation. The association also made a special tribute to pay high respect and gratitude to Chua Chai Yun for his outstanding contributions as the founding and permanent honorary president. In her speech, Secretary Luo Yunxian stated that since the establishment of the association, Village Chief Chua Chai Yun has not only actively promoted the development of the association locally over more than a decade but also raised significant funds for its activities. His Hakka spirit is greatly admirable.
She pointed out: “Village Chief Chua Chai Yun, for the association and the Hakka community, you have devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy, undertaking many challenges and also facing much misunderstanding and criticism. But you have always persevered, leading the board of directors with tenacity and determination, and ultimately led the association to achieve today's accomplishments.”
She continued: “Your leadership abilities have deeply inspired all of us; you have made us realize the importance of communication and collaboration. The Brunei Chong Cheng Hakka Association sincerely thanks you for your 15 years of leadership and support. Your encouragement in spirit will always spur us forward.”
