After a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on the 8th, the two countries issued a joint statement on deepening their strategic partnership and also signed and released a 'Joint Statement on Global Strategic Stability'.

China and Russia pointed out that tensions among nuclear states have escalated to the point of facing the possibility of direct military conflict. The statement condemns 'certain nuclear states for establishing or expanding permanent military bases in sensitive areas around other nuclear states, flaunting military strength,' which has become one of the most pressing strategic risks to eliminate.

Xi Jinping visited Russia from the 7th to the 10th and held small-scale, large-scale meetings and tea discussions with Putin on the 8th.

China and Russia: True Friends Tempered Over Time

Xi Jinping stated that in the face of unilateralism and hegemonic bullying in the international arena, China will join Russia in resolutely defending the rights and interests of both countries and those of developing countries at large, also expressing that both parties 'must be true friends tempered over time.'

After the talks, the two leaders signed a 'Joint Statement' with a title up to 73 characters long, and jointly witnessed the exchange of more than 20 bilateral cooperation documents covering areas such as global strategic stability, the authority of international law, biosecurity, investment protection, digital economy, quarantine, and film cooperation.
