Fox News reported on the 10th that US President Trump stated he had a direct call with Iranian officials that evening, during which the other party requested him to stop the bombing. However, Iran soon denied this.
According to Fox News, Trump said in an interview with the media while in the White House Situation Room that the US had launched 49 Tomahawk missiles, accompanied by airstrikes from fighter jets. The closest target struck was about 40 miles outside the Iranian capital Tehran.
Trump stated that the bombing would stop soon, but if Iran did not sign an agreement, “We will bomb them to pieces.”
In any case, Iranian media promptly quoted a senior Iranian official as saying: “Trump's claim that Iranian officials contacted him is just an excuse to avoid going to war with Iran.”
