A Chinese actor named Wang Xing (Xing Xing), who played 'Mutton' in "Fox Spirit Matchmaker," and also participated in "Story of Rose," "Criminal Minds 2," "Psychologist," recently was suspected to be tricked into going to Thailand for filming, but ended up disappearing near the Thai-Myanmar border. On the night of the 5th, his girlfriend posted on Weibo for help, and fellow actor Gong Jun also forwarded her post.

Xing Xing's girlfriend revealed the details of the situation. On December 24th last year, Xing Xing saw a forwarded message in an actors' group about a casting call, so he added the casting director on WeChat and passed the audition. However, he was suspicious of the information and location provided for the shoot. On December 30th, he sent a message to decline, but the person insisted he fulfill the role, stating they couldn't find a replacement. Xing Xing eventually decided to go, thinking it might be an opportunity to expand international cooperation.

On the evening of January 3rd this year, Xing Xing flew from Shanghai to Bangkok, Thailand. After arriving in Bangkok around 3 am on the 4th, someone picked him up to drive to a hotel near the shooting location. His girlfriend demanded that Xing Xing stay in contact and send his location four times. The last location was sent at 10:10 am local time in Mae Sot County on the Thai-Myanmar border. At 10:30 am, Xing Xing sent a message saying he needed to change cars, and by 11 am, he sent a distress signal and then went missing.

His girlfriend quickly contacted the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and the consulate in Chiang Mai for help. Embassy personnel indicated that it was necessary to confirm whether he was still in Thailand and that a local report must be filed first before they could assist. She tried to contact the local Thai police station but couldn't get through; Xing Xing's younger brother rushed to Shanghai on the 5th to file a report with the police. They were also concerned about alerting the Mae Sot County police station, fearing it might lead to Xing Xing's relocation. On the 6th, his girlfriend plans to fly to Bangkok to seek help from the embassy and local police. She also revealed that others in their group received similar casting invitations, and some returned after feeling something was off, warning everyone to be cautious of such scams.

Multiple well-known artists shared the distress post. A "Xiaoxiang Morning News" reporter noticed that actor Xu Dajiu, who had a similar experience, posted a video stating that while traveling in Thailand is very safe, "if you're coming to work, especially with a filming crew, do not come. It's all fake and in Mae Sot County." Xu Dajiu mentioned he has returned to China and has been in contact with Xing Xing's family, "He's been located, currently in a compound with shaved head. We've had a video call but can't show it. He's the third batch; I was the second. I can confirm he's already in Myawaddy."
