Nine Outdoor Breeds Found During Dengue Enforcement Operation - NGWE

 Nine outdoor breeds were found and two cleaning notices under Section 8 were issued during a dengue enforcement operation at Taman Bertam Jaya, here yesterday.

Melaka State exco for Health, Human Resources and Unity, Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said the operation was to deal with the issue of recurring outbreaks, and inspections in the area also found many potential mosquito breeding sites that had been destroyed.

"Dengue prevention and control activities will continue in the locality to prevent the occurrence of outbreaks due to the history of repeated outbreaks as well as the identification of hot spots.

"The Melaka State Health Department will continue to monitor the implementation of dengue prevention and control measures on a regular basis and requires cooperation and supervision by all agencies involved," he said in a statement here today.

Commenting further, Ngwe said surveillance and prevention activities should also be carried out by all agencies involved and residents living in the respective localities.

Meanwhile, he said a total of 2,203 dengue cases were reported in the state last year, with two deaths due to dengue fever.

He said the total number of cases in 2024 also resulted in Melaka becoming the state with the highest rate of increase in dengue fever cases with 80.4 per cent.
