Officials held a memorial last Saturday (February 21) for six firefighters who died in a fire truck cliff accident in Hunan.
The Fire and Rescue Bureau of Xinhua County, Hunan, announced on their “Loudi School” WeChat public account that the memorial was held at the funeral home in Xinhua County, Loudi City. The Fire and Rescue Bureau also released the names of the six: Li Jiang, Lu Zhou, Chen Huang, Yi Xiangyu, Duan Wengui, and Cao Sixian.
The memorial officially began at 10 a.m. All attendees observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the six. The head of the Xinhua County Fire and Rescue Bureau introduced the lives of the six, and the head of the Loudi City Fire and Rescue Bureau delivered a eulogy. Afterwards, all attendees bowed three times to the portraits and made final farewells.

The fire truck cliff accident happened last Thursday (the 19th). A fire truck from the Xinhua County Fire and Rescue Bureau rolled off a cliff on its way back after completing a firefighting and rescue mission in Luguan Town, resulting in the death in the line of duty of the six firefighters mentioned above and injuring one firefighter.
