Cannabis is valuable in Europe!
During a 4-hour anti-drug operation, the police dismantled a drug syndicate that had been active for less than four months. In addition to arresting two key figures, they also seized cannabis blocks worth up to 2.64 million in currency.
The police uncovered that these two individuals were the leaders of the syndicate, responsible for trafficking cannabis to European countries for profit.
Deputy Director of the National Police Narcotics Department, Mudzani Deputy Director, stated that acting on intelligence, the police arrested a 34-year-old local suspect and a 38-year-old Chinese national at 5:25 AM and 6:15 AM on Wednesday (23rd) at a cafe in Sepang and a residence in Kota Warisan respectively.
According to his statement on Friday, at 9:35 AM that day, the police proceeded to search a rented unit in Bukit Changgang, Banting, where they found a total of 144 transparent bags containing suspected cannabis blocks.
He noted that these 75.51 kilograms of drugs were valued at up to 2.64 million in the black market, with a quantity sufficient to supply 151,000 drug users.
He stated that the police also confiscated various currencies amounting to 25,327 in currency under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
He revealed that the amount found in the operation was up to 2.67 million in currency.
He cited police investigations finding that the two suspects were ringleaders of a drug trafficking syndicate to Europe. They rented homestays or rental units at 180 per day as drug dens and waited for the right time to transport the drugs to Europe.
He disclosed that the two suspects had no criminal records and tested negative for drug use in urine tests.
The police are currently investigating under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and are also probing whether the Chinese national entered the country legally.
The police are still tracking down their accomplices to completely dismantle this syndicate.
The public is urged to call the department's hotline (0122087222) if they have any information on drug activities to help the police combat the nation's number one enemy.
