Idaho police in the United States stated on the 2nd that a pickup truck and a tour bus collided in the evening of the 1st near Yellowstone National Park in eastern Idaho, resulting in 7 deaths.
Local media cited sources reporting that the passengers on the tour bus were Chinese tourists from Southern California. The incident also resulted in 8 injuries.
Police received the report at approximately 7:15 PM local time (9:15 AM Malaysian time on the 2nd).
Police said the accident occurred on a highway near Henrys Lake State Park, which is located about 26 kilometers west of Yellowstone National Park. Both vehicles caught fire after the collision; the truck driver was killed, and 6 passengers out of the 14 tourists on the tour bus perished.
Police indicated that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Yellowstone National Park attracts an average of 4 million tourists annually, with most visitors going between May and September.
