(Kuching, 15th) The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) officially launched four brand new facilities yesterday at the Royal Bay Commercial Centre in Pending, further strengthening Sarawak's digital infrastructure development.
These new facilities include the SDEC Network Operations Centre (NOC), Technology Operations Centre (TOC), the expanded Industrial 4.0 Prototyping Lab (IR4.0 Prototyping Lab), and dedicated storage facilities.
SDEC stated that these facilities are designed as an integrated operations hub, consolidating key functions within a complete ecosystem.
The agency pointed out that by centralizing the NOC, TOC, and operational workspaces, real-time monitoring, faster incident response, and smoother coordination among teams can be achieved.
"This integration enhances overall service visibility, strengthens network reliability, and ensures more efficient delivery of connectivity services, especially for Sarawak’s rural and underserved communities," the agency stated in a press release today.
In addition, another highlight is the expansion of the IR4.0 Prototyping Lab, which will further develop into two specialized centers: the Advanced Robotics Centre and the OT (Operational Technology) Cybersecurity Simulation Centre.
SDEC pointed out that this strategic expansion focuses on two rapidly growing fields—embodied artificial intelligence and intelligent robotic systems, as well as OT cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.
The Advanced Robotics Centre will focus on accelerating the deployment of robotics and embodied AI in real-world applications.
Meanwhile, the OT Cybersecurity Simulation Centre is expected to position Sarawak as a regional leader in the OT cybersecurity sector.
SDEC further stated that the relevant laboratory expansion works are being prepared and developed in phases for gradual commissioning.
The agency emphasized that as Sarawak continues to advance its digital economy agenda, these new facilities will serve as key drivers, supporting the establishment of resilient, secure, and high-quality digital infrastructure to promote regional inclusive growth and long-term sustainable development.
Earlier, the launch ceremony was hosted by Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and attended by SDEC board members and senior management team as witnesses.
