Huang Zitao Faces Issues Selling Sanitary Pads: 'Foreign Objects' Spark Customer Complaints

Published at Jun 18, 2025 09:03 pm
Chinese celebrity Huang Zitao has been actively managing his livestream business in recent years and launched his sanitary pad brand in May, selling nearly 200,000 units within just 15 minutes. However, recently, a consumer posted a complaint claiming to have found black spots on the brand's sanitary pads, raising doubts about its quality and sparking widespread discussion.

A netizen posted that while using Huang Zitao's brand of sanitary pads, they discovered black foreign objects on them. In the shared photo, two small black spots can be seen on the pad. The netizen stated that after contacting customer service, the staff responded by providing an inspection report from April, stating that the product “met quality standards,” but they did not conduct further testing on the specific batch of products in question.

Since the brand provided an April inspection report, critics argue that it cannot be used to validate the quality of products manufactured in June. Some netizens suspect the brand of “misdirection” in its explanation. Moreover, Huang Zitao had previously emphasized that the brand's products are “absolutely safe,” promised transparency in the production process, and even mentioned that his girlfriend Xu Yiyang personally tested the products. However, this incident has led some customers to question the brand's quality control and its commitments.

In response, the brand later issued a statement addressing three concerns raised by customers, including damaged boxes and adhesive residue on the packaging, stating that these issues do not affect product use but promising to make improvements where possible. Regarding the most contentious “black spot” issue, the brand explained: “The primary cause is the carbonization of certain raised fibers during the nonwoven fabric production process, which may result in a very small chance of black spots or thread-like black marks appearing. These are not harmful substances and can be used with confidence.”
