(Daroh, 24th) A 53-year-old woman went missing after entering the forest to collect wild fruits, and authorities have launched a search and rescue operation.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department stated that they received an emergency report at 8:15pm yesterday (February 23), indicating that a person had gone missing in the Kampung Betanak area of Daroh.
According to a spokesperson, the missing person is 53-year-old Suriya Merais. She had entered the forest with 10 others to pick fruits, but did not return with the group afterward.
It is understood that she is believed to have lost her way and deviated from the original route, leading to her disappearance.

The rescue team arrived at the scene at 9:19pm and, after first gathering information from the police and villagers, began the search operation at 9:26pm, initially searching within a one-kilometer radius of her last known location.
However, as of that night, the missing woman had still not been found.
Authorities subsequently briefed the family and suspended the search and rescue operation at 10:50pm, with plans to resume the search today.
This operation mobilized 6 fire and rescue personnel, and also received assistance from 8 police officers, 5 Civil Defense Force members, 3 Volunteer Corps members, and about 60 villagers in the search effort.
