(Sibu, 24th) – In the early hours today, a collision between two lorries occurred at Sibu 12th Mile Road, resulting in one death and two injuries.
According to a report from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, authorities received an alert at 12:04 a.m., and a rescue team from Bintangor Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, supported by Sarikei Fire Department.
The report stated that the accident involved a fertilizer lorry rear-ending a tanker lorry. Preliminary checks found two male attendants trapped inside the fertilizer lorry's cabin, while the driver managed to escape on his own.
The operations commander said that due to the limited space at the scene, rescuers encountered difficulties removing the injured, and so assistance was requested from Sarikei to help tow the vehicles, making more space for rescue operations.
In the end, rescuers successfully rescued one of the victims, who was conscious, and handed him over to medical personnel from the Malaysian Ministry of Health for treatment.
The other victim was confirmed dead at the scene; after being extricated, the remains were handed over to the police for further processing.
The deceased was confirmed to be 30-year-old Stanley Ali.
