Dispute Over Taking Photos at Paris Opera House: Chinese Hearing-Impaired Woman Shows Five-Star Red Flag in Protest

Recently, an incident involving Chinese tourists occurred at the Paris Opera House in France. A video from the scene has been widely shared on social media, sparking heated discussions among netizens from various places. Among them, a Chinese hearing-impaired woman became the focus by displaying an image of the Chinese flag on her phone amid the dispute.

According to the circulated footage, a group of hearing-impaired tourists from China recently visited the Paris Opera House and took photos at a popular photo spot inside the venue. During this time, they apparently spent a relatively long time taking photos, which dissatisfied a group of European tourists waiting behind them. The two parties then got into a dispute over the rules and order for taking turns to take photos.

The video shows two Chinese women spending a long time taking photos at the site, after which the European tourists waiting behind them stepped forward to communicate, believing that the Chinese visitors had occupied the photo spot for too long, affecting other visitors' opportunities to take photos. The Chinese tourists, however, felt that they were taking photos according to the queue order on site and did not agree with the accusation.

As both sides stuck to their positions, the scene gradually grew tense. A Chinese man then had a physical altercation with a European man, leading to a brief moment of tension. The wife of the European man involved repeatedly shouted “NO! NO! NO!” trying to prevent the conflict from escalating.

Meanwhile, a Chinese hearing-impaired woman also joined the debate, expressing her dissatisfaction through sign language. She emphasized that she had not violated any rule by occupying the photo spot and accused the other party of trying to cut in line. During the dispute, she also displayed an image of the Chinese national flag on her phone, stating that she was from China and should not be treated unfairly.

Eventually, with the intervention of accompanying tourists and on-site staff, the situation did not escalate into further physical conflict. The European tourists involved subsequently left the scene, while the Chinese tourists reported the incident to the opera house security staff. After reassurances from staff, the incident was ultimately resolved.

However, the related video quickly spread online, leading to extensive discussions. Some netizens believe that, when taking photos at popular tourist attractions, visitors should be mindful of others waiting and avoid occupying spots for too long to prevent misunderstandings; others feel that if both parties had remained calm and communicated, the incident could have been peacefully resolved.

Still other netizens focused on the act of showing the national flag during the dispute, arguing that this move did not help resolve the conflict and instead brought more attention to the incident.
