(Miri, 18th) Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, stated that as of February 2025, the Sarawak Social Welfare Department has distributed various types of welfare aid to 54,384 recipients across Sarawak, involving allocations amounting to RM49,200,500. Among these, the Miri Welfare Department has allocated RM4,287,150 in the first two months of this year, benefiting 4,546 people.
Speaking this morning at the “Sejambak Kasih” charitable event for the Hari Raya festival co-organized with the Miri Social Welfare Department (JKM) at Dynasty Hotel Miri, she highlighted that this year, during the Hari Raya festival, 16,118 Muslim beneficiaries across Sarawak will receive this assistance, accounting for 29% of the total welfare recipients in Sarawak, with a total allocation amounting to RM1,611,800.

Fatimah mentioned that Dynasty Hotel has been participating in this charity event for 23 consecutive years, providing the venue free of charge and assisting the organizing unit, while also committing to continue their involvement in three major festive charity events this year, including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Gawai, reflecting the company's social responsibility and care.
The event aims to alleviate the economic burden of Muslim recipients during the Hari Raya period and help improve the quality of life for low-income families, enabling them to joyfully welcome the festive season.
She said that this year, 150 beneficiaries were invited to attend the charity event at Dynasty Hotel Miri, each receiving an RM100 green packet. Additionally, the hotel sponsored a material gift pack worth RM150, including rice and various food items, distributed to all attending beneficiary families, with a total value amounting to RM22,500.
Moreover, on the 13th of this month, the Miri Social Welfare Department held the first Hari Raya charity disbursement event at the Bekenu Community Hall, distributing 100 aid packages to local beneficiaries. As for the remaining 488 recipients, they will directly receive RM100 welfare money credited into their bank accounts.
This charity event concluded successfully, with Fatimah extending her gratitude to Dynasty Hotel Miri and all cooperating partners for their support and coordination, allowing the underprivileged groups to feel the warmth and care from society during the festive season.
She concluded by wishing all Muslims a “Happy Hari Raya” and hoped they reunite with their families to enjoy a pleasant and safe festive season.
