(Miri, 20th) A fire broke out last night at a restaurant in Myy Mall Lutong, Miri. The Lutong Fire and Rescue Department (BBP Lutong) quickly dispatched personnel to the scene, successfully controlling the fire in a short period. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The Lutong Fire Department received the fire report from the Sarawak State Operation Center (PGO Sarawak) at 8:20 PM and immediately activated the fire alarm within 30 seconds, dispatching the fire truck at 8:21 PM. The fire truck arrived on the scene at 8:28 PM, quickly commenced firefighting actions, and successfully controlled the fire by 8:45 PM, concluding the operation by 9:19 PM. The fire team safely returned to the fire station by 9:47 PM.
The firefighting operation was led by Lutong Fire Station Chief Henry Jugah, deploying one FRT fire truck (BGR 4022) and one Triton multipurpose vehicle (VGR 8847), with a total of 10 firefighters assisting. The Miri Fire Department also dispatched reinforcement teams to join the operation. Additionally, the police (PDRM), Sarawak Energy Company, and Sarawak GAS also sent personnel to assist, showcasing an efficient spirit of collaboration.
The restaurant owner indicated that after the fire occurred, they immediately notified the relevant units and are currently cooperating with authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.
The Fire and Rescue Department urges the public to be vigilant and ensure electrical and gas safety to prevent similar incidents from happening.
