On the 28th, Hamas issued an official statement confirming that it has recently reached an agreement on the general framework for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza with US Middle East envoy, Wietcov.
The statement indicated that the framework agreement will ensure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, more aid materials entering Gaza, and the immediate takeover of Gaza affairs by a professional committee upon the announcement of the agreement.
The statement noted that the agreement includes the release of 10 Israeli detainees under the guarantee of mediators and the transfer of a certain number of bodies of detained Israelis in exchange for the release of agreed-upon Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas is currently awaiting the final response from the relevant parties.
Hamas Military Leader Mohammed Killed
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated in a speech to the parliament on the 28th, that Mohammed, the brother of the deceased Hamas leader Sinwar and a Hamas military leader, died in an Israeli airstrike on Khan Yunis in southern Gaza on May 13th.
As early as mid-May, Israeli Defense Minister Katz had publicly pointed out multiple times that there were increasing signs that Mohammed had died.
