The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism recently held the launch ceremony for the 2026 "Green Tourism Season" in Phnom Penh, aiming to attract international tourists during the rainy season and off-peak periods, and promote the sustainable development of the tourism industry.
According to China News Service, the plan is to turn the country’s rainy season, from May to October each year, into a "vibrant, high-value, and sustainable" tourism season, in order to boost overall tourism consumption and market vitality.
In his speech, Minister of Tourism Sok Soken called on hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and other industry players to strengthen cooperation, launch more tourism promotional packages and special activities, to attract more foreign tourists.
He stated that the authorities have formulated a number of measures, including strengthening overseas tourism promotion, expanding domestic and foreign cooperation, implementing facilitative entry and exit policies and joint travel arrangements, while also improving tourism service quality, and developing more attractive tourism products and activities.
Tourism is one of Cambodia’s four pillar industries. Official data shows that in the first three months of 2026, Cambodia has already received over 1 million international tourists, demonstrating the continued recovery of the tourism market.
The Cambodian side hopes that through the "Green Tourism Season" it can further enhance the resilience and international competitiveness of the tourism industry, and boost global travelers’ confidence in Cambodian tourism.
