A Chinese man was recently on a business trip in Brazil when he was robbed at gunpoint by masked assailants who fired multiple shots, hitting his backpack. Fortunately, the bullets were stopped by the laptop inside his bag, leaving him unharmed. The incident has made the Apple laptop involved a hot topic among netizens, who joke that it’s now a bulletproof device.
According to The Beijing News, the victim, Mr. Liu, posted online that on the night of October 1, while waiting for a car at a gas station in São Paulo, Brazil, preparing to go to the airport and return to China, a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of him. A masked man with a gun got out, threatened him, and attempted a robbery.
Mr. Liu said that instinctively, he clung tightly to his backpack. The gunman snatched his suitcase instead, and Mr. Liu took the chance to run away. The robber then fired two shots at him before driving off.
Only Discovered Bullet Wound at Airport Security
After the police arrived, they said the chances of retrieving Mr. Liu’s suitcase were very slim. Mr. Liu gave up waiting for an investigation result and proceeded to the airport to return home. But at security, he discovered that his backpack had been shot.
Mr. Liu described finding a bullet embedded in his laptop during airport screening. It turned out he had been hit by the robber’s bullet, but the computer had stopped it, preventing serious injury.
Mr. Liu said that with the items lost from his suitcase plus the damaged laptop, his total losses amounted to about 20,000 RMB (11,800 MYR).
