(Kuching, 30th) — After successfully organizing mental health workshops in Miri and Bintulu, Rakan Sarawak Destiny Movers (RSDM) is planning to further expand related programs to strengthen the community’s ability to address mental health issues.
The organization stated in a press release yesterday that, with the enthusiastic response to previous activities, workshops combining mental health awareness, practical skills, and experiential learning will be further promoted.
The statement indicated that this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the community. Participants will not only learn basic mental health knowledge but also receive training to recognize early signs of stress in people around them.
The "Unveiling the Mind, Growing and Thriving" workshop held in Bintulu attracted over 90 participants, including secondary school students, technical college, and university students.
During the event, participants learned a variety of practical tools, including the ALEC model (Ask, Listen, Encourage, Care with Follow-up), emotional grounding techniques, and emotional literacy skills.

The HOPE workshop held in Miri was also a success, with participants giving positive feedback on the instructors’ clear, inclusive, and inspiring guidance.
At the same time, participants suggested that future sessions should include even more interactive activities.
Surveys showed that over 90% of participants experienced increased self-confidence, had mastered more practical stress-coping strategies, and were more motivated to create a psychologically safe environment.
Through these workshops, participants were also trained to become "Community First Responders" who are able to recognize early signs of psychological stress and provide initial support before seeking professional assistance.
The project adopts an inclusive approach, combining narrative sharing, art reflection, and interactive exercises (such as "Flip the Script" and "Safety Net Web") to ensure the content is suitable for youth, families, and professionals from various backgrounds.

The statement noted that the success of the workshops was also thanks to the support of local institutions, sponsors, and instructor teams, all of whom are dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health in Sarawak society.
As the project grows, future RSDM workshops are expected to introduce new modules to delve deeper into more sensitive topics and offer more opportunities for participants to build connections, learn, and promote community initiatives.
To further strengthen the impact of the program, RSDM Magazine will soon be published as a continuous reference resource.
The magazine will gather perspectives, tool guides, book reviews, and exclusive interviews, covering topics such as workplace neurodiversity, digital health, and rural mental health.
