(Miri, 28th) An electric scooter caught fire in a residence on Beach Road, Miri, today.
The Miri Fire Department received a report around 10 am today and immediately dispatched personnel from the Lutong Fire Station to the scene to handle the situation.
It is reported that the scooter's battery possibly short-circuited and caught fire. Fortunately, the homeowner discovered it while preparing to go out and used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Otherwise, if the fire had spread from the scooter parked in the garage to other parts of the house, the consequences could have been disastrous.
Fire department personnel ensured the site's safety before wrapping up.
