In this significant election, Singaporeans have clearly supported the ruling People's Action Party team, and Prime Minister Huang Xun Cai feels deeply humbled and honored by this.
In his speech after the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet on Friday (May 23), Prime Minister Huang described this election as a critical moment.
He stated that voters faced an important decision in the election, not only to choose representatives for managing town councils and parliament but also to decide which team would form the government and collectively write a new chapter for Singapore's future.
In this election, the People's Action Party team, led for the first time by Prime Minister Huang, received 65.57% of the vote, an increase of more than four percentage points from 2020.
Prime Minister Huang expressed that Singaporeans have elected an efficient and stable government, while also continuing to support opposition party members in some constituencies previously managed by the opposition.
“This result reflects the collective will of Singaporeans. In an environment filled with uncertainties, you recognized the potential risks and challenges and chose a trusted leadership team and government, laying a stable foundation for Singapore's future development.”
