Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia Plan Joint Disaster Relief Drill: Military Officials Hold Virtual Meeting to Discuss Details

(Vientiane, 4th) The military forces of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia recently conducted a virtual meeting to coordinate the upcoming joint disaster relief drill, finalizing key operational and logistical arrangements for the exercise.

This meeting was hosted by the Lao Ministry of National Defense, with Colonel Kanpai Vanvilay, Deputy Director of the Training Department of the General Staff of the Lao People's Army, serving as head of the Lao delegation.

During the meeting, the Lao side presented briefs on the exercise content, operations flow, command system, communications support, security arrangements, engineering, medical, aviation and vehicle deployment, personnel accommodation, and other logistical support issues.

Representatives from all three countries also raised opinions on various technical and implementation details, aiming to ensure the smooth progress and effectiveness of both the virtual conference and the upcoming drill.

The goal of this trilateral joint exercise is to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the three countries' militaries in disaster response, improving collective response speed and operational efficiency. Through on-site drills and experience sharing, the three sides hope to further enhance personnel skills and build disaster relief teams with professional competence and a spirit of cooperation.

This joint exercise not only has practical training value, but also helps to promote friendship, understanding, and unity among the three militaries.

It is currently the rainy season, and a flood warning has been issued in several provinces of Laos. Residents near the Xong River and Namxan River in Vangvieng District, Vientiane Province and Bolikhan District, Bolikhamsai Province, have been urged to remain alert and make disaster preparations.

Recently, Kasy District in Vientiane Province experienced flooding from several days of heavy rain, but fortunately, conditions have gradually returned to normal.
