72-year-old Eric Tsang (Tsang Chi Wai) announced on the 4th at the “TVB Anniversary Awards 2025” that he would step down from his position as TVB’s General Manager. He accepted an interview on a TVB program, candidly sharing his feelings about the five years in the role, and self-deprecatingly remarked, “I’m so useless!”

In the teaser, host Luisa Maria Leitao asked him why he decided to step down at this time. He bluntly said that five years was really too long for him, especially since the pressure of being General Manager was immense: “Sometimes I want to say things, but my position doesn’t allow it. We’re a listed company, it’s really hard, it's not like me at all.” Regarding the five years in office, he poked fun at himself for being “very useless”: “I never thought I’d be this useless—only achieving so much in five years. I thought I’d have it sorted in three years, but this cruise ship is too huge, it’s like an aircraft carrier.”

He also admitted that his children had long hoped he would step down: “They’ve wanted it for a long time—it was practically like intimidation, ‘Are you done yet?!’ When your kids grow up, they just become fiercer than you, haha.” He also mentioned that criticism during his tenure was inevitable, and he hopes the audience can be more understanding.
