Gunshots were heard at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport! A Tesla sedan suspected of illegally soliciting passengers was stopped and inspected by patrolling police officers. However, the driver refused the inspection and attempted to flee, even accelerating and ramming towards the officers. The police had no choice but to fire 8 warning shots in the air to stop the driver, resulting in a Hong Kong female passenger accidentally being thrown out of the car and suffering leg injuries.
The incident occurred on Saturday (the 20th) at 9:20 a.m. at the first terminal of Taoyuan International Airport.
According to Taiwan media reports, at the time of the incident, two officers from the Security Brigade of the Aviation Police Bureau were conducting a crackdown on unlicensed taxi drivers when they found the Tesla involved in illegal passenger solicitation. When the officers approached to inspect, the driver sped off and rammed into the officers. The officers reacted swiftly, firing 8 shots into the air to stop the driver.
It appears the passenger in the car had not yet sat properly and was thrown out, resulting in a leg injury. The Hong Kong passenger has since been sent to the hospital for treatment.
In this incident, neither the police officers nor the driver were injured. The involved driver has been subdued and arrested by police, with follow-up investigations underway.
