U.S. President Trump stated on the 9th that he is considering using revenue collected from government-imposed tariffs to issue a “dividend” of at least $2,000 (approximately 8,347 ringgit) per person to most Americans.
Trump has previously proposed multiple times the idea of using tariff proceeds to directly distribute cash to the public.
On the social media platform “Truth Social,” he said: “Each person (excluding high-income individuals) will receive at least a $2,000 dividend.”
He also criticized those who oppose tariff policies as “fools,” and declared that the United States “is becoming the wealthiest and most respected country in the world.”
He emphasized: “We are bringing in trillions of dollars in revenue and will soon begin to pay down our massive debt.”
In addition to announcing the dividend proposal, Trump again attacked the Democrats and anti-tariff individuals.
He pointed out, “Without tariffs, America cannot be prosperous and strong.” He claimed that companies are rushing to build factories and invest in the United States, the stock market has hit record highs, and 401(k) retirement accounts are also at their highest levels ever.
According to a September report from the U.S. Treasury Department, in the first nine months of this year, the federal government had already collected about $195 billion in tariff revenue. These tariffs primarily stem from the Trump administration’s comprehensive tariff measures imposed on many global trading partners since April.
