Ben Ng and his wife, Yan Ning, collaborate as both actors and producers and screenwriters in the Lunar New Year film 'Hahaha New Year Comedy,' which has recently attracted widespread attention. Ben not only sings the theme song for a film he's starring in for the first time, but he also embarked on a 'miraculous journey' from song composition to MV shooting in just 12 hours.
Ben revealed that he has always loved singing and is very happy to create and sing a New Year song for this Lunar New Year film. However, what truly touched him and his wife were the friends around them who offered their help without hesitation to help them overcome many challenges. Ben said, "I am really lucky to have so many benefactors around me!"
He said that the song's creation was a spur-of-the-moment decision. "That day, I was recording the Cantonese version of the movie soundtrack 'Where Is My Home?' when suddenly I thought this Lunar New Year film should have a festive New Year song to add joy to the New Year atmosphere. So, my wife and I decided to give it a try, and unexpectedly, the music teacher not only agreed to help us immediately but completed the composition, lyrics, and recording in just 3 hours. It was crazy!"
The filming of the MV was equally challenging. Ben recalled, "The recording was completed around 10 PM, and I tried calling the director to see if we could shoot the MV the next day. Initially, the director only said 'what?' but within 15 minutes, he arrived at the recording studio with his team to start preparing. He was ready to rest, but seeing how pressed we were for time, he helped us without hesitation."
This tense and exciting shoot had Ben and his wife, Yan Ning, feeling the abundant help from friends along the way. To complete the MV in an extremely short time, they challenged themselves to visit 7 shooting locations in 8 hours, all with the help of benefactors. "Sometimes we couldn’t even book a car or a makeup artist, but friends around us took on different roles, helping us complete the shoot smoothly." Ben also revealed that their friends found a 'special' god of wealth role, played by an artist who, upon learning of their urgent need, quickly arrived and finished the shoot.
Ben expressed that although the whole process was tense and busy, he still feels very grateful and hopes the film will achieve good box office results to repay everyone who helped them. "The success of this film would not be possible without every friend who quietly supported us from behind the scenes. I am truly grateful for everyone's help."
