(Kuching, 4th) SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim Primary School, located at Kem Semenggo, now has a more complete school hall after completing an upgrade project funded by a RM300,000 allocation from the 2025 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Kota Sentosa assemblyman YB Yap Yau Sin was present on Monday for the final inspection before the official handover of the project.
In a press statement, he stated that the project involved upgrading and repairing the old and dilapidated school hall, restoring and improving the facilities to provide a safer, more comfortable, and conducive learning environment for school assemblies, co-curricular activities, sports programs, and various school functions.
Yap Yau Sin pointed out that the importance of a school hall lies not only in its architectural function but also in its long-term support of teaching, character development, community interaction, and various educational activities.
“A school hall is not just a building; it is an important space where students gather, learn important values, participate in activities, and build life-long memories.”
“By upgrading and repairing this old hall, we are investing in the well-being and growth of our children. At the same time, we are also providing better facilities for teachers and the school community to promote educational and co-curricular programs,” he said.
He added that the successful completion of this project reflects the Sarawak government's continued commitment to improving public infrastructure and ensuring that schools have safe, practical, and quality teaching environments, benefitting students and educators.
On the same day, Yap Yau Sin also presented a RM10,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to support the school's education, co-curricular activities, and student development programs.
