(Bandar Seri Begawan, 25th) The Centre for Lifelong Learning at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) recently organized a professional development seminar titled “Inclusive Early Childhood Education Practice: Behaviour, Communication and Developmental Support”. A total of nine representatives from Sinaran Pelangi School, including board members and the teaching team, participated fully in the workshop and engaged in collaborative learning with educators from Seri Mulia Sarjana Pre School.
This seminar was jointly delivered by experts from UBD and the Special Education Division of the Ministry of Education. The course covered modules such as child development, positive behavior support, communication skills, sensory regulation, parental involvement, and case studies, aiming to provide participants with specific strategies to support children with diverse learning needs.
The Sinaran Pelangi delegation was led by Chairperson Lyu Shiyun and Supervisor Zheng Shijuan, along with key teaching team members. Through interactive discussions, role-plays, and case planning, participating teachers acquired practical methods that could be directly applied in inclusive early childhood education classrooms.
Chairperson Lyu Shiyun stated that this training has provided strong support for the school’s commitment to deepening inclusive education. She pointed out that the foundation of inclusive education lies in educators who possess professional knowledge and a caring heart. Ongoing professional development helps teaching teams to master more effective instructional strategies to support children with different learning needs, while also strengthening collaboration between home and school.
