(Kuala Belait, 23rd) The PPPDB (Malay Poetry Table Tennis Association) will be hosting the "2026 Brunei Table Tennis Open Tournament" this September, in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan's 80th Birthday Celebration. The event aims to bring together local table tennis enthusiasts through sports competition to collectively celebrate this important occasion.
The tournament will take place at the Kuala Belait Sports Complex over three consecutive Sundays: September 6, 13, and 20. It is expected to attract both youth and adult table tennis players, encouraging friendly competition, skill exchange, and also promoting a healthy lifestyle and community interaction.
The first day of the tournament on September 6 will begin at 8:00am with Boys' and Girls' Singles events for participants under 18. On September 13, starting at 8:00am, the Men's and Women's Open Singles will be held. The finals for all categories will take place on September 20 from 2:00pm onwards.
The organizers stated that the under-18 categories are intended to provide young players with valuable official match experience, helping them to further develop their competitive abilities and offering an opportunity to interact with table tennis enthusiasts from across Brunei.
The Men's and Women's Open categories offer a more competitive platform for participants to test their skills and compete for advancement to the tournament finals.
The association emphasized that this event is not merely a sporting competition but also seeks to unite the Bruneian table tennis community in celebration of His Majesty’s 80th birthday, encouraging players, families, supporters, and the public to celebrate together through sports.
