(Seria, 29th) — Sun De'an, President of the World Chinese Writers Association and President of the Brunei Chinese Writers Association, yesterday led writers Zhu Yunli and Lin Yuantai to Miri to attend a new book launch and authors' creative sharing session organized by the Miri Pen Club. He also announced that the "13th World Chinese Writers Congress" will be held grandly in Miri in April 2026. Preparations are progressing smoothly, and the event promises to bring "surprise and fruitful outcomes" to writers attending from various places.
The latest three works published by the Miri Pen Club—Cai Shuang (Huang Shuanglu)'s Suiyue Ru Shi, Cai Zongxiang's Walking Scenery, and Chen Qi's Voices from the Border—were formally launched on June 28 at the Miri Digital Library Auditorium. The three authors expressed their sentiments and shared their creative journeys at the event, triggering strong resonance among the audience and creating a rich literary atmosphere.
Sun De'an said: “We sincerely thank Miri Pen Club president Xu Jingping and the team of committee members for enthusiastically organizing this congress. The Miri Pen Club successfully hosted the 'Asian Chinese Writers Congress' in 2023, demonstrating outstanding organizational capacity and a high sense of responsibility. Therefore, taking on a world-class literary event once again is a natural fit and highly anticipated.”
He pointed out that the Miri Pen Club has not only made outstanding contributions to the promotion of local Chinese literature, but also actively promoted regional cultural exchange. The 2023 Asian congress enabled writers from various places to gain a deep understanding of the harmonious coexistence of Borneo’s diverse ethnic groups and Sarawak's remarkable achievements in promoting Chinese culture, which holds far-reaching significance.
Sun De'an emphasized that being the President of the World Chinese Writers Association is not an honorary title, but a mission and responsibility. He reiterated that the spirit of the Association is “gathering through literature,” and hopes to unite Chinese writers worldwide through the congress, continue to use literature as a bridge, promote mutual cultural learning, and create a peaceful and prosperous future together.
He also added that any association member who has any needs regarding literary creation, publishing, or exchange, can raise them at any time. He will do his best to assist and is fully committed to raising the development of global Chinese literature to new heights.
